Standard vs. Deep Clean: Which One Do You Actually Need?

General · August 28, 2026

Every new client asks this question, and it's a good one to ask before you book.

What's in a standard clean

A standard clean keeps a home consistently maintained. Floors, counters, bathrooms, kitchen surfaces, dusting, and general upkeep. It's what you book on a recurring schedule, biweekly or monthly, to keep your space looking and feeling clean between deeper cleans. Think of it as maintenance, not restoration.

What's in a deep clean

A deep clean is a full reset. It includes everything in a standard clean, plus hand-scrubbed baseboards, hand-wiped blinds and shutters, full interior window detail including the tracks, casings, and sills, and the inside of your appliances, minus the fridge and dishwasher. These are the areas that build up over months, sometimes years, and never get touched during a quick weekly wipe-down.

Why we always recommend starting with a deep clean

If this is your first time booking with us, we recommend a deep clean first, even if you plan to switch to standard cleanings afterward. Here's why: a standard clean maintains a baseline, it doesn't create one. If your baseboards haven't been scrubbed in a year, a standard clean isn't going to fix that in one visit. A deep clean resets the whole home to a real baseline, and every clean after it actually holds that standard instead of slowly trying to catch up.

What happens after your first deep clean

Once your home has had a true deep clean, most clients move to a standard recurring schedule, biweekly or monthly, and never need another deep clean unless something specific comes up, a move, a big event, or just wanting that reset feeling again.

Which one is right for you

If you've never had a professional cleaning, or it's been a while, start with a deep clean. If you're already on a regular schedule and just need upkeep, standard is the right call.
